We’ve touched on the importance of proper bathroom lighting in some of our other posts, but today we want shed some light specifically on vanity lighting. Sometimes called vanity bars, this type of lighting is very common in homes across America for a reason – it typically is the best option for these small spaces!
Vanity lights come in many different styles. The most common type of vanity lighting is the classic “vanity bar” (see photo). Typically vanity bars are a row of lights framing an area, most commonly a mirror. The row of bulbs sometimes frames both sides of a mirror (as seen in many classic backstage movie sets), but almost always is above it.
Proper lighting in the bathroom is extremely important because of the tasks preformed here. Many grooming activities could turn out to be quite dangerous if there wasn’t adequate lighting. Out of the many different types of lighting layers you can add to a bathroom, you should start with vanity lighting as it covers the area where most of these potentially dangerous situations could occur.
Vanity light fixtures can be made out of a variety of different materials to compliment any interior style. Sconces (see photo) along side of the mirror are another common option.
